An epic aqua theatre will be opening in Dubai’s Al Habtoor City in mid-2017 and the first renderings of what it will look like are spectacular. La Perle by Dragone will put on a whopping 450 performances per year – that’s two shows per day, five days per week.

Over the next month a team is assembling to start putting the stunning show together – including 35 creative team members, 70 highly skilled technicians along with 65 world-class artists. Putting the show together is no easy task, the state-of-the-art 1,300 seat theatre will have an aqua stage filled with 2.7 million litres of water.

And that’s just the stage – the performers are pretty impressive themselves. The daredevil acrobats will diver from 35 metres and zoom around the ceiling suspended from high-powered winches at 15 kmph.

Franco Dragone, Founder and Artistic Director of Dragone says: The theatre we have built is not just a theatre, it’s an incredible machine. It’s like a special spaceship or more like an A380 plane which I have to fly!

“Dubai is the laboratory of the future, a crossroads of cultures where 21st century people live. In Dubai, we are living and experiencing what will happen in the world in 10 - 20 years from now, it’s a city of the future, so that is why Dubai is the right place to do this show.”

Expect 65 international artists performing awrial stunts, massive fountains, hydraulic lifts, and a stage that switches between wet and dry in an instant.

Creative company Dragone will produce the soon-to-be iconic show, while Franco Dragone will take the post as artistic director. The company are no strangers to the world of water shows, being behind Celine Dion - A New Day, Le Rêve in Las Vegas and The House of Dancing Water in Macau.
