The much-anticipated opening of the Dubai Frame has almost arrived, according to Dubai Media Office. In a tweet this morning they said that the landmark is now 80 percent complete, meaning that it won’t be long before this spot is on Dubai’s list of tourist attractions.

The $43.5 million (AED160 million) project does exactly what it says on the tin – it’s a fame of the view towards old and new Dubai. At 150 metres high and 93 metres wide, the photo frame near Zabeel Park is hard to miss and it’s starting to look pretty awesome.

The top of the frame will be a clear glass walkway, offering visitors a seriously impressive view in both directions, 150 metres from the ground. Earlier this year, Dubai Municipality explained in an Instagram caption that the structure will frame both old and new Dubai.

“Dubai Frame project is located near StarGate , the famous entertainment site in Zabeel Park and one of its important attraction points. Dubai frame highlights Dubai prominent landmarks in a unique way. It is a 150 meter-high, 93 meter-width for the space in the frame to form a beautiful image about Dubai from a high point,” the Dubai Municipality caption reads. “Additionally, it shows from one side the landmarks and building of Sheikh Zayed Road to symbolize the modern Dubai, while showing from the other side landmarks for Deira, Umm Hurair and Karama areas to symbolize the old Dubai.”

The exact completion date is not yet known, however, back in May Dubai Media Office tweeted a picture saying “set for completion in Q4”, so we can expect to be snapping pictures from the top of the frame in just a few months’ time.
