Entertainer wins App of the Year at the ShortList App Awards 2016

Other big winners included Etihad, who picked up Travel App of the Year. Judges chose their app ahead of the competition as it’s clean design and allows you to book a ticket to anywhere in the world in quickly and easily, as well as download your boarding pass and even get a reminder to get on the plane.

Hype Ten were awarded App Developer of the Year, being the company behind some of the country’s most popular apps including shopping, travel, social and games. They have quite literally raised the benchmark for app development in the region.

The winner in the mobile banking category was Emirates NBD, whose app has been downloaded 750,000 times and made the UAE the third country in the world where you can deposit a cheque through your mobile phone.

MusicHall was filled with 350 guests for dinner and drinks to celebrate the regions blossoming app industry. It’s a sector that is growing exponentially across the world – as of today, 147 billion apps have been downloaded, meaning that the global estimated annual revenue of the app industry is $50 billion.
