Dubai Ruler orders reckless drivers to sweep city’s streets

A group of dangerous drivers were ordered to carry out community service on the streets of Dubai by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The men, who were photographed sweeping the pavement by Dubai Media Office, will have to clean Dubai’s streets for four hours per day for 30 days.

In a series of tweets, Dubai Media Office explained, “@HHShkMohd orders drivers who performed dangerous car stunt to clean streets for 4 hours daily for 30 days as community service.”

“The driver and his companions who were present with him in the car during the stunt will perform the community service.”

Last week, the group of young men were changed with performing dangerous stunts in their 4×4 during rainy weather on City Walk. According to previous reports, the men filmed themselves doing “doughnuts” at high speed, very close to pedestrians.

The video gained thousands of views on social media before the men were arrested.

“The stunt was made amidst busy traffic in the presence of families and children violating traffic laws and general road etiquette,” Dubai Media Office tweeted. “This reckless behavior have endangered the safety of people and property in the location.”

“Dubai Police took swift action to arrest the offenders and referred them to the authorities for legal action.”

Many on social media applauded the action taking, saying that it sends a clear message to reckless drivers that there are consequences to their actions.  Zaheen said on twitter: “No one is above the law. HH proved it again. Great leader. Wise decision.”

While Sahar wrote: “BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!! Best decision ever. Promise u that after sweeping & the humiliation, they will never do again!”
