BREAKING: Axwell to play opening night of brand new Dubai club
Brand new open-air nightclub BASE is launching on April 27, and we can be the first to announce that Axwell is confirmed for opening night.
The electronic icon will be behind the decks at BASE in Dubai Design District for a huge launch party. The 39-year-old DJ found fame as part of the now defunct super-group Swedish House Mafia, but these days he’s a headliner in his own right. Tracks such as ‘Feel The Vibe’ and ‘I Found You’ have become floor-fillers, and he has remixed tracks for some of the biggest names in the business such as Madonna and Usher.
These days, you'll usually see him paired up with fellow ex-SHM member Sebastian Ingrosso, but for this trip to Dubai he's going it alone. In a previous interview with ShortList, Axwell said: “The main difference with my solo work is that there’s no big plan. When Seb (Ingrosso) and I work together we have a common goal and we are keeping our live shows in mind. It has to reflect both our personalities. Nowadays my solo work is more of a vent or an outlet for music that feels more personal to me.”
And he seems impressed at the speed that the city is evolving. “Dubai is a very original city,” he said. “There really isn’t another place that compares. Every time you visit it seems to have grown a little bit more. I always enjoy getting back there.”
Axwell is the first name to be announced for BASE, and insiders say that there are some other huge names to follow. There are no official pictures yet, but renderings show an oval shaped bar surrounded by tables with a large DJ booth at the back.
