Chris Rock to take Total Blackout tour to Dubai

Chris Rock is seriously funny (he has Grammy and Emmy awards to prove it), so news that he’s bringing his ‘Total Blackout’ tour to Dubai is likely to result in a total sell-out. The comedian’s first major world tour in nine years will be at the Dubai World Trade Centre on January 5 and 6, 2018.

He once described comedy as “the blues for people who can’t sing” and that’s evident in the way that he turns often sensitive topics into anecdotes. Judging by his new tour, he hasn’t changed tact for ‘Total Blackout’. A reviewer for The Guardian said of his opening night in Perth: “At times unsure if they are allowed to laugh, the crowd is reminded that Rock is not simply a joke machine or standout Oscar host […]; rather, he’s one of the most incendiary speakers of his generation.”

Basically what they’re getting at is, if you’re going to see Chris Rock, you can expect some close-to-the-bone jokes.

Over his three-decade career he has also proved himself as a producer and writer, most famously for “Everybody Hates Chris” – a sitcom about his life growing up in 1980s Brooklyn, which he uses to mock himself at every opportunity.

As his Dubai dates are presented by du Live! there will be an exclusive pre-sale for du customers, opening at 12pm on Monday, September 11, and closing at 11am on Wednesday, September 13. The general sale will start at 12pm on Wednesday, September 13.
