Dubai to get the first floating market in the Middle East
If you’ve been to literally every mall in the city (congratulations, you shopaholic, you) you’d be happy to note that the city is all set to welcome the very first floating market in the region.
The ingenious project founded by BEYOUland in partnership with Meeras will be making its debut later this year and will be located in Dubai’s “trendiest” new destination, AlSeef.
The project will feature 17 abra inspired boats that will host a number of different stalls, ranging from local and international brands and artists.
The main aim of the up-and-coming outdoor shopping destination is celebrate the nation’s rich culture and heritage.
Aside from shopping, the destination will feature a number of different food and beverage outlets and the odd art stand – we like.
In short, it will be the perfect spot to take your friends or family on their annual visit to Dubai.
Plus point? The abras will be ventilated so you can still go down in the summer. A good thing because otherwise we’d look like the GIF below.
When it opens in the second half of the year, the Deira Islands Night Souk will feature a staggering 5,300 shops and will boast over 100 quayside restaurants and cafes.
The highly anticipated venue forms part of Deira Island, which is a 15.3sq kilometre waterfront city that’ll consist of four islands. Expect the leisure hub to help transform “old Dubai” into a world-class visitor destination.
The total investment of Deira Island is AED6.1 billion.
