New floating hotel to open in Dubai this week
After being docked at Port Rashid for over 10 years, the Queen Elizabeth 2 is set to open this week.
The retired cruise liner turned hotel will have its soft launch on April 18.
Rooms on QE2 are set to start at AED600, with rates expected to fall during Ramadan.
According to venue's official website, www.qe2.com, the 13 deck hotel features 24 refurbished rooms and suites, 13 food and beverage venues, 25 meeting and conference facilities as well as a number of retail shops.
News of QE2's soft opening comes days after a new app which allows guests to book their hotel room in three hour intervals (three, six and 12 hours) launched in Dubai.
ByHours currently has over 60 Dubai hotels signed up. Among them include the St. George Hotel, Hotel Versailles Dubai and the Eureka Hotel in Al Rigga.
The Spanish hotel reservation platform is also available in a number of Abu Dhabi hotels. These include the Corniche Hotel Abu Dhabi, City Seasons Al Hamra and the Royal Rose Hotel.
Speaking on the app, the founder of ByHour Christian Rodriguez said: "ByHours.com came about from my own experience as a user. Most hotel chains are willing to adapt to the necessities of their guests in terms of needs, tastes and lifestyle, but they were inflexible with regards to the hours where you can check in and check out; especially when your flight is first thing in the morning."
The app is free to download on iOS and Android devices now.
