10 great things to do in Dubai this week

Great British Royal Beach Party
In celebration of one of the biggest weddings of the year between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Barasti is hosting a massive British bash at the beach resort. On Saturday, May 19, the Dubai institution will air the entire event on their massive outdoor LED screen. To accompany the action, if you can call it that, there will be a number of live acts and DJs spinning the tunes. You can also get your hands on some British delicacies (think party food, and other nibbles) and the whole place will be decked out in traditional bunting while there will be hats and flags to wave as the couple make their way down the aisle. There’s the promise of some mysterious party games, too.

NAS Sports Tournament
The city’s best athletes are being encouraged to take compete or watch the action at this annual sporting event. There’s futsal, paddle tennis, a 5km or 10km run or even a 75km cycle race. You can also take part in fencing or new for this year, 3 v. 3 basketball or a spot of Jiu Jitsu. As always the NAS Night challenge will be take place so you can test your obstacle climbing skills.

Cheese fest dxb
Axe House is hosting what could just be one of our favourite events this year, an entire evening dedicated to the magic of cheese. Gather your friends and embark on a tasty journey across some of the world’s best dairy products such as cheddar, brie, blue cheese and more. To accompany these cheesy night will be the sounds of Busker’s Code with Ibby. There will also be beverage offers on throughout the night.

24-Karat Gold Burger
There are fancy burgers and then there’s this. Maison Rouge has come up with a decedent creation that consists of 330g of Angus beef, tomatoes and crispy greens inside a bun that on the bottom is a red velvet blend and on the top, a 24 Karat gold edible frosting. As you’d imagine, it comes with a hefty price tag – AED365, to be exact – so be sure to eat every crumb.

Tribeca
If you really want to go for it, Tribeca is a hop, skip and a jump from Double Tree by Hilton in JBR. Their Queen Bee ladies night offers free bubbly and house beverages from 8pm until 1.30am. Plus there’s 50 percent off main meals. We walked into the usual party atmosphere Tribeca radiates whether there’s 50 people dancing or three friends who “really love this song”. It’s a fun extension to flip ladies night into a midweek blowout if that’s what you are after.

Hibiki Karaoke Lounge
Described as the first “authentic” karaoke lounge in the emirate, Hibiki offers private rooms as well as a main stage, accommodating for the varying levels of confidence in the wannabe Dubai divas. Dublin Arms
Irish pubs are almost as commonplace as Arabic restaurants in Dubai, but the Dublin Arms claims to be the original and is certainly a favourite of Deira-dwelling sports fans with a regular supply of Premier League and Spanish matches on TV. There’s also an energetic live band to entertain guests seven days a week. The daily happy hour from 12pm to 8pm is great too.
