6 music acts to see in the UAE this winter

Cooler climes in the UAE is often followed with tons of outdoor activities, brunches and concerts. That’s right, one of our favourite past times is back and as the cliché goes, “it’s bigger and better” than ever before. The lists of acts set to perform in the UAE is endless, so we’ve decided to shortlist our top nine. Enjoy. And remember no one wants to watch the show through hundreds of small screens so keep the Snapchat, Live stories and Facebook Lives to a minimum, please.

Emeli Sandé
The “Daddy” singer will be performing a soulful mix of her new tunes that include “Hurts” and “Breathing Underwater” as well as a number of tunes from her debut album Our Version of Events. Sandé’s gig at the Al Majaz Amphitheatre marks her third in the region – she first performed at Le Méridien’s Warehouse in 2009 which was followed by a show-stopping set at Sandance’s New Year’s Eve party in 2013.

Duran Duran
The awarding winning British new wave band, will be belting out their hit songs which includes the likes of “Hungry Like The Wolf” and “Come Undone” at the Dubai Media City Amphitheater on Wednesday, February 21. Aside from back to back bangers, fans can expect everything from heartfelt screams to nostalgic tears. Talk about kicking off the 16th edition of the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival in style.

John Legend
The “All of Me” hit-maker will be headlining day two of the city’s beloved Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival. Die-hard fans will be treated a soulful mix of Legend’s older tunes like “Ordinary People” and his latest chart toppers which include “Love Me Now” as well as “Beauty and the Beast’. We’ll see you there.

Ricky Martin
The “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer will be closing the city’s three day jazz festival, the Emirates Airline Jazz Festival. Music lovers can expect an act that’s packed with stellar dance moves, catchy beats and of course, back to back hits such as “Nobody Wants To Be Lonely”, “She Bangs” and “Maria”. With over two decades of experience, it’s safe to say that Martin’s regional debut will be a memorable one.

Dua Lipa
The 22-year-old Albanian born, British singer has been on our radar ever since the release of her mega-hit “Be The One” in 2015 and we are beyond excited to see Dua Lipa perform at the du Forum this February. Dua, if you’re reading this, please sing “Scared To Be Lonely”, “Last Dance” and “Begging”, we’d be forever grateful. Oh, and, “New Rules” too. If you’re unfamiliar with her style – think Amy Winehouse meets Nelly Furtado.

Rag‘n’Bone Man
Rag’n’Bone Man aka the artist behind this year’s smash-hit “Human” will be performing at the Dubai Opera on Friday, March 23. If you’re scratching your head, thinking “who?”, he’s the guy behind hits like “Skin”, “Grace” and “Life In Her Yet”. If you’re still not familiar with him, we recommend you listen to song below, you will (hopefully) be a fan for life.
