With a thrilling circus act, the return of YouTube stars Boyce Avenue and a chance to give back to the community, this week brings a diverse range of things to do. The week is rounded off with the return of the sporting event of the year (that’s Dubai World Cup, in case you didn’t know) and there’s still time to grab your tickets.

Coffee with a difference
This fantastic concept is a coffee shop and art studio all in one. Mawanaheb from Beautiful People is manned by adults with a special need, with the goal to bridge the gap between these adults and society, while giving them retail and service experience. The coffee shop serves RAW coffee and snacks, and you can also purchase the likes of paintings, cushions and phone covers – if you’re lucky you might even see an artist making them.
When: 9am to 3pm, Sunday to Thursday
Where: Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, www.mawaheb-dubai.com

Cirque Le Noir
Expect your stomach to flip at the death-defying stunts at Cirque Le Noir. Acrobats and contortionists push their bodies to extremes in the name of entertainment, along with a spectacular laser show. The highlight is the terrifyingly named “Wheel of Death”, which always makes the audience scream.
When: March 23 – April 2
Where: Dubai World Trade Centre

Eye In The Sky (15)
Helen Mirren, Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul and the late, great Alan Rickman star in the latest film to focus on the morality of modern-day warfare. In Eye in the Sky, Mirren and Rickman assume the roles of remote military commanders, tracking a suspected terrorist. The mission changes when a drone relays footage of a terror cell. The problem? A single civilian girl playing in the area, who would also be wiped out by any attack. Thus hangs the balance: one innocent life over thousands?
In cinemas from March 17

Boyce Avenue Live in Dubai
If you’ve ever searched for cover songs on YouTube, the chances are that you’ve come across Boyce Avenue, who have carved a name for themselves as “internet sensations”. With an upcoming album of original songs, “The Road Less Travelled”, the brothers are back in Dubai to entertain the crowd at Emirates Golf Club.
When: Thursday March 24
Where: Emirates Golf Club, + 971 4 552 1614

Karak Beats w/ Mala & Sgt Pokes
It’s a Middle East debut for pioneer and mastermind of Dubstep, Mala, alongside longtime-friend and co-founder of the DMZ family, Sgt Pokes. It’s all about the dub, roots-infused, bone rattling, bass meditation and low riding rhythms!
When: Thursday, March 24
Where: Velocity, JW Marriott Marquis

Dubai World Cup 2016
One of the UAE’s biggest social events of the year is back as the region gears up for the hotly animated sporting event. Meydan Racecourse will be filled with some of the world’s more powerful and pristine horses, racing to become champion. There’s still time to buy tickets and sort out a suitably sharp outfit.
When: Saturday March 26
Where: Meydan Grandstand and Racecourse, + 971 4 327 0077, www.dubaiworldcup.com
