We’re not far away from one of the biggest city-wide sales of the year, and to help you prepare for the three-day shopping extravaganza, we’ve gathered a list of all the information that you’d need to help you nab your bargain of choice.

The 3-Day Super Sale will take place on May 18 and will last until May 20 (that’s 72 hours of discounted shopping).

The Dubai event will see 250 clothing, home appliance, furniture and electronic brands offer 30 to 90 percent off on various items.

The clothing brands that have been confirmed so far include; Harvey Nichols, Jimmy Choo, Bloomingdales, G2000, Bossini, Carpisa, Steve Madden, Kurt Geiger, Kazar, Shoe Mart, Ecco, Roberto Cavalli, Giordano, Galeries La Fayette, Okaidi, Desigual, Aldo, Charles & Keith, Call It Spring, Nine West, Rivoli, Hour Choice, La Senza, Al Jaber Optical, Porsche Design, Paul & Shark, Balmain, Blanco, Disney Fashion, Forever 21, M & Co, Louis Feraud and Vero Moda.

Think Kitchen, IDdesign and Marlin Furniture are three of the home appliance and furniture brands that will be taking part in the city wide mega-sale.

The 3-Day Super Sale that includes major discounts on electronics is an attempt to contribute to the city’s economy and enhance Dubai’s retail sector.

Speaking on the event Saeed Mohammad Measam Al Falasi, Executive Director, Retail and Strategic Alliances, DFRE, said: “The 3-Day Super Sale initiative is part of our robust strategy revolving around the Retail Calendar to further boost the emirate’s retail sector with regular promotional periods that benefit both retailers and shoppers. Running promotions that offer retailers numerous options to boost sales during this time of the year will further enhance the emirate’s appeal as a year-round shopping hub, and helps us build on Dubai’s strong position as only the second city after London to host the most number of retail brands.

“The timing is perfect for shoppers, coming early in the summer and just a few days before the start of the month of Ramadan, followed by the Eid holiday period. We expect to reenergise the retail sector at this event, as large number of shoppers are bound to avail themselves of three days of huge savings.”

Now that we’ve got the details out of the way, let’s discuss shopping strategy…

The first step is to make a list of all the things you’re looking to buy.
Have the sizes, make and model all written down before you make your way to the mall. (We say the mall because all of the malls in Dubai are taking part; Dubai Mall, Marina Mall, Mall of the Emirates and Mirdif City Centre are all included.)

Once you’ve done that, give yourself a time limit in which to get it.
Remember, every second spent looking for a pink refrigerator equates to another dress being purchased by someone else.

Remember to bring water.
We’ve been to a few of these shindigs and the first people to crack are the dehydrated ones…

Have someone stand in line for you.
Not just at the cash register but at the changing room and in some cases the entrance – it saves you time and in this case money.

Always try on the clothes.
We know that we just said that time is of the essence but you don’t want to spend your hard earned money on something that doesn’t fit.

Bring headphones.
There’s bound to be a few arguments over who saw what first, and said argument is mostly going to make a kid cry…
