Emirates has just added a hot, new travel destination to its already impressive list.

From October 1, the Dubai based airline will offer daily flights to Edinburgh, Scotland.

The addition marks Emirates’ eighth destination in the United Kingdom and its second in Scotland – it has two daily flights to Glasgow.

Speaking on the news, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations Hubert Frach said: “We’re increasing our capacity to Scotland to meet growing demand, and by introducing a daily flight to Edinburgh, it will complement our current double daily flights between Dubai and Glasgow.

Edinburgh is a very popular leisure and business destination, and the new service will offer our customers from across our global network, particularly from key inbound markets such as Asia and Australia, a direct option to the city via our Dubai hub.”

He added: “It will also be a more convenient point for travellers from the greater Edinburgh area, and beyond, such as Aberdeen and Dundee, to travel with Emirates to Dubai and onward to destinations across our network.”

The announcement comes just days after the award-winning airline launched its home check in service

The service which allows passengers to check in for their flights from anywhere in Dubai, is available for customers across all classes travelling on Emirates flights.

The initiative enables all Emirates passengers to complete their security checks and check-in from the comfort of their home, hotel or office and, have their luggage transported to the airport prior to their flight.

According to an official statement released by the Dubai-based airline, an Emirates check-in agent will arrive at your preferred location, weigh and tag your bags as well as check-in you in to your flight and issue your boarding pass. This means that once you arrive at the airport, you can directly head to immigration, bypassing the check-in desks at the airport.

The time saving service is available for AED350 per trip for up to 7 pieces of luggage. An additional fee of AED35 will be charged for each additional piece of luggage.

You can book the service on emirates.com up  and note that you have to do so 12 hours before your flight departure time.
