A Brief about Al Qudra Cycle Track

The Al Qudra Cycle Track is an 86 km bicycle track that is dedicated to cycling enthusiasts looking for adventure and exercise. Since no other vehicles are permitted in the reserve, charming asphalt trails were constructed all around it.

It provides the perfect getaway experience from the noisy city environment and allows the riders to enjoy a peaceful riding experience in the natural desert regions of Al Qudra. 

The bicycle tracks are divided into 4 different routes that cyclists can choose from and they cover a vast area of the desert region including a few lakes and oases that welcome the wildlife inhabited around the desert reserve. 

Cyclists get to enjoy the scenic landscape, especially during the hours of sunrise and sunset which offer majestic views of the desert. 

There are sufficient shaded rest areas situated along the paths and telephone stations for emergencies as well. Cyclists can bring their own gear or rent them from the shops near the entrance. The cycle tracks are open 24 hours and so it is no surprise to find cyclists during all hours of the night. 

Location and Accessibility of Al Qudra Cycle Track

The Al Qudra Cycle Track entrance is located at the end of the D63 Al Qudra Road through the Last Exit Al Qudra food court drive-through. It is next to the ADNOC service station and near The Endurance Masjid. You can also access the Track from the Al Qudra Cycling Car Park area if you have your riding gear with you.

There are currently no public transportation services available so cyclists are expected to drive to the track entrance in their own vehicles or hire a taxi. 

There are sufficient parking facilities, which are made free, around the Last Exit Al Qudra, and several other important amenities for cyclists are also made available in the area. 

Track Information

The Al Qudra Cycle Track routes altogether stretch around 86 km in length, which are sectioned off into 4 major routes. There are 2 linking routes that allow bikers to switch their routes during their course with a shortcut instead of having to finish the whole route. 

The longest route is around 50 km in length and encircles many lakes including the Al Qudra Lake, Crescent Moon Lake,  Alya Lake, and other popular attractions like the Al Marmoom Bird Watch Tower. 

The shortest route spans a distance of 18 km and surrounds both Stingray Lake and River Lake. All the tracks have a number of shaded rest areas situated along the tracks and have route details and km marks put up for cyclists. There are also some emergency telephones set up along the routes. 

All of the routes are primarily plain terrains without any real climbs or drops so they ensure a smooth and comfortable riding experience for most people.

Since there are no water stations set up, cyclists are required to get their supply of water from the Last Exit Al Qudra and its nearby restaurants and stalls.

Scenic Landscapes: The Al Qudra Cycle Track takes riders along the scenic routes of the Al Qudra desert to witness panoramic views of the countless sand dunes and plants.

Sunrise and sunset times are perfect for glimpsing the boundless natural beauty of the desert regions in Dubai. You may occasionally catch the sight of a few oryxes along your route and you can head over to the lakes to experience flora and fauna of the desert.

Al Qudra Desert: Al Qudra is known to be one of the most popular desert camping sites in all of Dubai and the Cycle Track encircles vast regions of the Al Qudra desert. Since the tracks are open 24 hours, you can even set up camp inside the area and enjoy the cool desert night under the starry skies. 

Explore the Lakes: The Al Qudra Cycle Track encompasses several lakes within its routes including the Al Qudra Lake, Crescent Moon Lake, Alya Lake, Stingray Lake, Diamond Lake, and other small man-made oases. Although the lakes are artificially created they have become just like natural sanctuaries for a variety of bird species that are known to visit the lake from the time to time including flamingoes. 

Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve: It is the first and one of the largest unfenced nature conservation reserves in the UAE that is home to many species of animals including 19 endangered ones and over 360 bird species.

The Arabian Oryx is commonly found along the Cycle Track and the vast artificial lakes included inside the reserve welcome around 158 species of migratory birds.  There are a number of animal and bird observation platforms for exploring wildlife amidst the sprawling oases surrounding the region. It can be said that the Al Qudra Cycle Track is actually inside the reserve which also contains a star and sunset observation desk along with new development programs for other leisure activities.

• Terra Solis Dubai: Close to 36 km from the Al Qudra Cycle Track is the Terra Solis Dubai Hotel which offers a quaint and unique experience of the Arabian Dunes. They have large swimming pools structured in Arabian architecture and exquisite restaurants that serve continental cuisines. As a luxury hotel, the rates can be more on the expensive side but otherwise, it is perfect for a getaway from the city.

• Arabian Ranches Golf Club: It’s closer to the city and offers a more boutique-style hotel experience so it is much cheaper than other nearby hotels. All rooms have a sweeping view of the golf courses and provide all modern amenities including TV, complimentary WiFi, and a minibar. It is only a 25-minute drive from Downtown and the Burj Khalifa and less than 34 km from the Al Qudra Cycle Track entrance. 

• ECOS Dubai Hotel at Al Furjan: It is located in the Jebel Ali region of Dubai and just under 45 km from the Al Qudra Cycle Track. Visitors have a variety of interesting dining options around the hotel provides all necessary amenities for a comfortable stay including free parking. • Last Exit Al Qudra: The Last Exit is the closest food court to the entrance of the Al Qudra Cycle Track. It is also a fueling station and provides parking services to cyclists embarking on the cycle tracks. 
• Spicy Village Restaurant: Less than 4 km to the west of the Al Qudra Cycle Track entrance lies the Spicy Village Restaurant. They provide both dine-in and takeaway with a whole variety of beverages and cuisine options including Indian, Chinese, burgers, fried and grilled items, club sandwiches, desserts, and dedicated kids’ meal options. 
• Al Hadheerah: Situated less than 17 km from the Al Qudra cycle track is the Al Hadheerah restaurant which belongs to the Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa. It is a lively place that provides Arabian and Middle Eastern specialties served as a buffet along with authentic regional dishes as well.

Recommended Gear: You can head on over to the Trek Bicycle Store or the First Ride Bicycle shop near the Last Exit to rent a bicycle and the necessary gear in case you don’t have them. Since the terrain is quite plain you won’t need to get a mountain bike. Ensure you are equipped with the other required gear including helmets, safety pads, saddle seats, sunglasses, etc. before you start your journey.

The tracks are open 24 hours and it is best to avoid the peak-heat hours between 10 am and 4 pm.
