Lionel Richie to play at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix



It has just been confirmed that musical legend Lionel Richie will take to the stage on the Saturday of Yasalam’s after-race concerts at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The “All Night Long” singer will perform at the du Arena on Saturday, November 26, as part of his All The Hits World Tour. He’s the third big-name act to be announced for the F1, joining The Chemical Brothers who will play on Friday, November 25, and Rihanna on Sunday, November 27.

The 67-year-old icon is famous for his massive hits including “Hello” (yes, he released it before Adele) and “Endless Love”. As well as his soulful love songs, he’s known for upbeat tracks like “Dancing on the Ceiling”.

“The announcement of today’s Saturday night artist completes another really strong line-up for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.  With something for everyone, it underlines our effort to always improve and build so our Grand Prix stays one of the best in the F1 calendar.  Of course, it remains a huge event for the region and we look forward to another sell-out and exciting F1 weekend.” said Al Tareq Al Ameri, CEO of Yas Marina Circuit.

Richie joins The Chemical Brothers and Rihanna on the line up of after-race concerts.

Dance duo The Chemical Brothers will play on Friday November 25. The English double act, Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, have become world-famous off the back of songs such as “Galvanize” and “Hey Boy Hey Girl”. Their most recent album, Born in the Echoes, which was released last year, is their first studio album since 2010.

Meanwhile Rihanna, who will perform on Sunday, November 27, is currently one of the biggest names in music. She’s the first artist to sell 100 million digital singles, and following an exciting collaboration with Manolo Blahnik, she’s also hot property in fashion circles. With her fourth studio album Anti having been released in January this year, the Barbadian singer is topping charts with new material such as “Work” featuring Drake.
