Trump calls Dubai Airport “incredible” during debate

The first presidential debate saw Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump take their gloves off on Monday night, for an evening that produced memes and GIFs aplenty.

During the debate, Tump praised airports in the Gulf, calling Qatar and Dubai “incredible”, while having a dig at airports in America.

“When we have $20 trillion in debt, and our country’s a mess, you know, it’s one thing to have $20 trillion in debt and our roads are good and our bridges are good and everything’s in great shape, our airports. Our airports are like from a third world country,” he said, in front of a television audience of 100 million.

“You land at LaGuardia, you land at Kennedy, you land at LAX, you land at Newark, and you come in from Dubai and Qatar and you see these incredible – you come in from China, you see these incredible airports, and you land – we’ve become a third world country.”

Naturally, as with anything that comes out of Donald Trump’s mouth, it sparked conversation on Twitter. Many were quick to agree with the Republican candidate and real estate tycoon, saying that Dubai does indeed have an incredible airport.

But while we all know that’s true, others said that this simply highlights how out of touch he is with the average American, who has probably never been to Dubai.

According to Twitter this was the most-tweeted debate ever, and apparently Trump was the subject of 62 percent of all tweets. Do you think Trump’s comments were fine, or do they show that he’s out of touch with average Americans? Let us know in the comments below.
