7 things to do in Dubai this week
Festivities at The Beach
This place is full of local arts and crafts making it a great place to grab some last minute Christmas presents. Expect the likes of embroidered cushions, handmade jewellery, one-of-a-kind fashion and plenty of food. If you’re looking for some pool props to take your Instagram game to a new level, you’ll also find inflatable swans, larger-than-life donuts and bespoke deck chairs. When you’re finished shopping there’s also a funfair with games, activities and rides. There's even some arcade games so that big kids can get that nostalgic feeling.
When: 10am-12am , Open daily until April 2017
Where: The Beach opposite JBR
Boxpark’s 14 stores, 28 food and beverage outlets and two pop-ups are in full festive swing. Head along to the urban-themed destination on Al Wasl road for plenty of Christmas menus and special offers. Big Chef’s Studio has a main and dessert special until December 30th, with roast fillet steak stuffed with porcini mushrooms followed by Grandma’s lemon pie. At Le Tresor our top pick is the ‘Pouet Roti’ – roasted chicken with buttered Brussel sprouts, rosemary potatoes and chestnut gravy.
Where: Boxpark, Al Wasl Road
ABT Music Festival

Social House breakfast menu
Popular fountain-side spot Social House has introduced a new breakfast menu to attract people down to its terrace – and, as it’s served until 2pm, keeping them there. Like all of its eclectic menu, it combines east and west with a rustic feel. For a fresh start, the avocado tartine is a mix of buttery green avocado, hard-boiled eggs, beetroots, roasted tomatoes and feta cheese and lemon oil. There are also NY bagels, a four-berry salad and billionaire eggs. Sounds like the perfect start to – or indeed middle of – the day.

Hip Hop Karaoke
It’s free admission to the second edition of Hip Hop Karaoke. Think you’ve got what it takes to be the next Kanye? (Just don’t start with the Twitter rants, please). Get yourself along to Story Rooftop this Monday for some old school classics and try it yourself if you’re brave enough.
When: 8pm, Monday December 19
Where: Story Rooftop, Holiday Inn Express, Knowledge Village
Cinema - Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (18)
It’s not Star Wars as we know it, of course, but it is set in the same (far, far away) galaxy at the same (long ago) time. The rag-tag protagonists of Rogue One, which include last week’s cover star Felicity Jones as criminal-turned rebel Jyn Erso, are also locked in the same battle against The Empire and its proposed floating HQ, the Death Star – the plans for which they’re trying to steal. Think Oceans XI meets The Magnificent Seven. In space. With weird names.
