Temperatures are about to drop in Dubai
Good news: you can finally wear those winter jumpers you got for Christmas. All the signs are that Friday February 3 could end up being the coldest day of the year – and quite possibly the coldest in the past 12 months.
According to a range of forecasts, daytime temperatures in Dubai will struggle to hit 16 degrees Celsius.
The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) say that Friday’s weather will be “partly cloudy at times over some areas, especially islands, costal and northern areas with probability of some rainfall with fall in temperature. Fresh winds in general, becoming strong over the sea and exposed areas, becoming stormy at times during late night…”
But before you rush out to buy an umbrella, this forecast is across the UAE and does not specify that Dubai will have any wet weather.
By the early hours of Saturday morning, temperatures could be as low as just 13 Celsius.
It also looks like it will be pretty windy from Thursday February 2, and temperatures across the UAE in the next five days (from Friday) are unlikely to get above 22 Celsius.
Is this cold? Well, it’s a long way off from 2009 when temperatures climbed to a record 30 degrees Celsius on the same day.
As for the lowest ever temperature in the UAE, that was recorded at Rekna in Ain in January 2008 when temperatures fell to a chilly -1 Celsius, which doesn’t make this weekend’s temperatures sound so low.
