Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan have both tweeted this morning to confirm that they will fight on April 23.

And Pacquiao’s legal advisor has confirmed to The National that it will take place in the UAE.

“My team an I have agreed terms with Manny Pacquiao and his team for a super fight #pacquiaokhan #April23rd,” tweeted Khan. While Pacquiao said: “Negotiations between team Pacquiao and team Khan have come to terms for the April 23 bout as this is what the fans wanted. #PacquiaoKhan.”

Eight-time world division champion, Pacquiao, has been teasing details of the fight for a while. He recently took to social media to say “See you in the UAE for my next fight,” fueling speculation on who his opponent would be.

Amir Khan did the same, tweeting a picture of the Pac Man game which hints at Pacquiao’s nickname.

No details on location or tickets have been released yet, but we’re sure this event will sell out fast.

Speaking on the event, Al Afaq tourism CEO, Diaa Al Khatib, whose event management company will be handling the event, revealed: “We tried our best to finalise the deal for a year now and we are happy that it is through. Where it will be held, Dubai or Abu Dhabi, will be announced in a couple of weeks and Pacquiao will be there.”

This match will mark Pacquiao’s first fight in the region, which isn’t as a result of a lack of trying, as the 38-year-old welterweight boxer has reportedly been trying to land a fight in the region for quite some time now.

More specifically, since he first arrived in Dubai two years ago. During a Q&A session held at Dubai’s Emirates Terminal 3 in 2015, the now Filipino senator confessed: “I’m surprised because they know me here. I want to fight here, I feel so happy to be here in Dubai. This is my first time here. Thank you for the warm welcome, especially to the Filipino people here in Dubai… thank you.” No, Manny, thank you ‘cause this is going to epic.
