IKEA to open second store in Dubai

Attention all shoppers! IKEA is all set to welcome its second location in Dubai. Yep, the notorious Scandinavian furniture store will be opening its doors in Jebel Ali in just two years time.

So, what will this 30,000 sq m store offer you? Well, it will have its signature IKEA restaurant – you know the one that sells amazing cheap hotdogs, meatballs and Daim bars? It will also have a lot more space for furniture and a brand new bakery. We can just smell the freshly baked breads, pastries and desserts now.

Aside from that, they’ll also be introducing a new phone scanning system that will allow you to scan the product’s barcode and arrange to have it delivered to your home. Can we just say that we’ve been waiting for this to happen for a long time? Waiting in queues is just too frustrating.

While we do not know the name of the mall – it has not yet been disclosed – that will house this new magical furniture hub, we do know that the Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate development project will span across 78,500 sq m. And, aside from IKEA it will boast over 100 retail stores including ACE Hardware.

So this means that by 2019, you’ll no longer have to venture out to the other side of the Emirate to get your fancy yet affordable new table and the tools needed to put it together. We. Can. Not. Wait.

To prepare both you and us for its grand opening, we’ve selected a number of GIFs that we think perfectly portray the IKEA shopping experience…

When you get there…

When you’re finally at the till…

When your furniture arrives…

When you read the instructions…

When you realise that you should have just paid the extra fee for them build it for you…

When you finally cave and ask someone for help…
