Dubai ruler welcomes new family member

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, officially welcomed the newest member of his family yesterday.

The 67-year-old became a proud grandfather again after his daughter Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum gave birth to an adorable baby boy called Rashid bin Mansoor.

The news of Rashid’s arrival – he was born just one day after Mother’s Day (March 22) – was kept relatively quiet, that was until Sheikha Manal shared a snap of her father cradling the region’s newest royal member on her official Instagram account.

The shot that was posted just six hours has already been liked over 12K times and was met with thousands of congratulatory messages from both the public and members of the royal family.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, was among the first to share his congratulations. The 34-year-old shared on number of pictures on Snapchat amongst them included a snap of the Prince holding his nephew.

Sheikh Hamdan, who goes by the Snapchat handle faz3, also shared a series of snaps congratulating his brother-in-law Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

Among them included a shot which featured Sheikh Hamdan’s father (Sheikh Mohammed), Sheikh Mansoor and Mansoor’s late father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the former President of the UAE and ruler of Abu Dhabi.
