Apple launches new app that lets you film AND edit clips

A new app launched today by Apple has just made creating videos all the more easier for iPhone and iPad users and wannabe vloggers.

The app Clips combines video clips, photos and music into short videos you can share with friends on social media without a lot of the editing know how and timelines, tracks or complicated editing tools you usually need to make a decent video.

It’s a great way to send a fun happy birthday greeting to a friend back home (no dash to the mall needed) or a polished ‘wish you were here’ message to family member.

ShortList were given access to the app before it is available to the masses and here’s a rundown of the features we liked the most.

1. Live Titles
This is pretty special and as a breakthrough feature lets users create captions using their voice. Just start talking and see the captions appear. Live Titles supports 36 different languages and you can choose your fonts and even create speech bubbles.

2. The comic book filter
Ever wondered what you’d look like drawn as a comic book character? Wonder no longer, this fun filter will give you superhero status in a tap or two.  There’s also ones that will make you look like you’re in a drawing, a black and white movies and just gorgeous.

3. The animated posters
Why not sign off your video like an old-school cartoon ‘The End’ or say Happy Birthday in one frame. Why not indeed.

4. The Music
The selection of music you can choose from is pretty impressive and it’s neatly filed under categories like “sentimental”, “retro” and “playful” – it’s all about expressing yourself with Clips!

5. You can use multi-clips
You can create multi-clip videos without any complicated editing tools and when you run music over speech the app knows when to drop the volume accordingly and your soundtrack will automatically adjust to match the length of a video.

Sharing is caring
We loved how easily videos can be shared directly to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Vimeo. If you want to send your video via what’s app Clips will suggest who to share it with based on the people who appear in the video and names mentioned, and the people you share with most often. Send in one tap.
