The Dubai Police just released official footage of them capturing six people responsible for stealing a staggering AED2 million worth of gold.

According to Major General Khalil al-Mansour three men, who wore masks when carrying out the theft, broke the window of a shop in the Naif area at 5am on Friday morning and stole the jewellery in just 31 seconds before leaving without a trace.

In an official statement al-Mansour stated the nature of the crime indicates that they had studied out the area for some time.

“The way in which the crime was committed, the location, the time, the manner in which the shop was invaded, the complete concealment of the faces, and the avoidance of surveillance cameras – this indicates that they had studied the site well before the crime was committed,” he said.

Al-Mansour also addressed how the Dubai Police were able to catch the criminals so fast. He revealed that they had received information about an organised gang specialising in armed robbery cases from Hong Kong and soon after began their search.

Less than 24 hours later, the gang of six which included a woman were found with the stolen jewellery and tools used in the robbery in the China cluster of International City.

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, has since praised the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for his endless follow-up and diligence on all security issues, and Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for all security issues in order to establish security and tranquility in the country.

He also praised the rapid arrest of the perpetrators of the crime despite there being no evidence of their identity, as they were wearing masks.
