Dubai just broke another Guinness World Record
Dubai is the city of world records (that’s not official but… we’re calling it) and it’s just added another one to its growing list. On Wednesday April 12 the “picture taken with the longest selfie stick” was awarded to ITP Media Group.
The record was broken at the ‘Influencer Nation’ party, which celebrated the launch of ITP Live, a new social influencer division of ITP Media Group. The selfie stick measured a whopping 16 metres, which is a full metre longer than the title previously held by Blasteem’s Matt & Bise, two Italian bloggers who created a selfie stick measuring 15.57 metres.
The event, which was held at Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai hotel, was attended by some of the region’s biggest influencers, including Rashid Belhasa (aka Money Kicks) and Mohamed Beiraghdary (aka Mo Vlogs), who were on the other end of the selfie stick taking the photographs. ITP Media Group’s CEO, Ali Akawi, was there to accept the award from the Guinness adjudicators.
A spokesman for ITP Live said: “We spent several weeks building the selfie stick – and breaking the record was the perfect way to celebrate the rise of social influencers in this region.”
ITP Live’s social influencer agency operates across the GCC and has already started working with brands including DTCM and P&G. The company has signed an eclectic mix of individuals include designers, YouTube stars, business thought leaders, models, beauty ambassadors, fashionistas, and an Olympian.
