Mike Tyson is coming to Dubai to launch a fitness academy

Former professional boxer Mike Tyson is coming to Dubai to launch a new business venture. The 50-year-old is holiday a press conference at the Burj Khalifa on May 4 to reveal his international gym franchise, the Mike Tyson Academy.

There aren’t much in the way of details at the moment, but according to the Instagram account that has recently been set up, the academy will include a mixture of fitness and boxing. The centres will feature cardio, strength, functional training and boxing to give people well-rounded approach to training.

The Instagram account states that there are academies opening in “Europe, Africa, Asia and more.” Each location will have a full-scale boxing ring, with group training and functional classes.

Speaking about why he chose Dubai to make this milestone announcement, Mike said, “Dubai has established itself on the world map by hosting many leading sporting events and icons and there is definitely a niche in this market for a fitness centre that is associated with quality and driven by a hard-core, challenging philosophy like mine.

“I strive to maintain consistency across all my centres with trainers that have been certified by me as well as exceptional training staff who will be on site to ensure a certain benchmark is maintained. I am positive that this is going to be only the beginning of a long-running successful association between myself and the region.”
