Work to officially start on Dubai's new AED1 BILLION mall
The foundation stone of Dubai’s latest shopping centre Silicon Mall has officially been laid! The 2.3 million square foot mall, that’s worth roughly AED1 billion, is expected to be ready just in time for the Expo 2020.
The mall by Lulu Group International will be located between the Dubai Expo site and the new Al Maktoum International Airport and will feature a cool futuristic façade and sky-lit corridors.
It will also have more than 300 international and local branded stores, 12 anchor stores and more than 50 food and beverage outlets.
The mall will feature a two-storey LuLu Hypermarket and department store and will also be home to the nation’s biggest family entertainment center (it will span across 70,000 sq ft).
Speaking on the retail outlet, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, Dr. Mohammed Alzarooni said: “We have tremendous respect for companies, small and large, that have been instrumental in fostering the momentous growth of Dubai and the UAE.
“Dubai Silicon Oasis is one such entity that has not only created an enabling business environment for corporations, but has also encouraged partnerships with like-minded entities that share its vision and proactively contribute to the local economy.”
He added that the project is set to be complete by 2020, which is “an important year when the nation expects to welcome approximately 25 million visitors hoping to enjoy the Dubai Expo 2020 and other unique national experiences and sights.”
Speaking on behalf of the multi-billion dollar retail hypermarket franchise Chairman and Managing Director of LuLu Group International Yusuff Ali M.A. said that Silicon Mall is the Lulu Groups most ambitious project in the UAE to date and that that they were “delighted” to be a part of the nation’s “incredible success story”.
Silicon Mall isn’t the only shopping centre that we can eagerly wait to welcome in 2020, Deira Mall is also set to open just in time for the Expo.
The mall that forms part of Deira Island will be located on a four million sq ft site and once complete it will be Dubai’s biggest shopping, dining and entertainment destination in terms of retail space.
