Blue Marlin’s 5th Anniversary Party
The Al Ghantoot-based idyll of sun loungers, terraces, first-rate cuisine and parties headlined by international DJs has managed to survive and ultimately thrive in the most fickle of industries, maintaining its credibility with a combination of innovation and escapism. This weekend, it underlines its staying power with a huge event to celebrate its fifth birthday.
The main attractions will be Frank Wiedemann, one half of the musical duo Ame and a pioneering DJ that continues to push the boundaries of electronic music, and Loco Dice, a dancefloor maestro who has been able to seamlessly merge different genres that are a hit with crowds. It will be one to remember.
When: Friday, May 5, 11am-11pm
Where: Al Ghantoot

Outlook Festival Dubai Party
This is the official Dubai edition of the global Outlook Festival and there is a special flavour of UK garage about this one. It features DJ sets from Mike Skinner, AKA The Streets, and Wookie, who is considered one of the founding fathers of the influential, turn-of-the-millennium genre. Also in action is Logan Sama, a noted DJ in grime – which is, of course, one of garage’s musical offspring – who has worked with Skepta, Stormzy and Wiley. Blazin and MC Visionobi complete the bill.

Afrojack and Rick Ross at Base
Following on from a massive opening weekend with Axwell and 50 Cent, Dubai’s new open-air club BASE has announced the line-up for next weekend… and it’s big.
World-famous DJ Afrojack will be behind the decks on Thursday, May 4 (Star Wars day, by the way), and award-winning Rick Ross will perform on Friday, May 5.

Groove On The Grass
This is the closing party for Season 5 of the outdoor party and they have lined up a four-pronged attack, including German DJ and producer Ellen Allien, who has been at the forefront of the techno scene since its earliest days and been a resident at some of Berlin’s most influential clubs. Also on the bill is US DJ Kenny Glasgow, who is better known as one half of Art Department.

Lushington at the Social Club After Party
Lushington is a producer and DJ on the rise. He creates house anthems with a distinct early 1990s feel, as evidenced by his single “You Got Me Baby” on Armada Records. With those galloping keys and soulful vocals, it’s the perfect blend for the summer. Free for ladies before 12am, free for guys before 10pm.

Cocodrills
“Where they’re from or how they grew up is entirely irrelevant,” proclaims their blurb, although we know Christian “Pridef” Diaz and Adam Cruz are based in Miami Beach and produce driving, groove-laden house music. Nothing innovative, but it’s a tried-and-trusted template for a good night out – which is why they’re staples on the US and Euro club circuit.

Where: Provocateur, Four Seasons Dubai

Sunstroke with Terry Hunter
Sunstroke celebrates its 6th birthday this month and the team have drafted in one of the most prolific house DJs in the business. Terry Hunter has a CV packed with names like Michael Jackson, Mary J Blige and R Kelly, with chart-slaying collaborations with the likes of Kenny Dope and Kanye West. Before all that, though, there is the Sunstroke 2/4/1 Brunch with CN Williams.
