Huge new retail and residential project planned for Dubai's Palm Jumeirah
The Palm, home to some of Dubai’s most sought after hotels – Rixos, Atlantis and Sofitel – as well as the nation’s most lusted over restaurants – Ossaino, Bread Street Kitchen and Nobu – is set to get even bigger…
Dubai property giant Nakheel has just signed a construction contract worth nearly AED1.5 billion for The Palm Gateway, which will be a new complex at the foot of the Palm Jumeirah with three residential towers, as well as retail space and beach club
The Palm Gateway will include over 1,250 luxury apartments spread across the three high-rise buildings – Tubular Tower, Central Tower and Beach Tower.
At a height of 285 metres, Tubular Tower will be the tallest of the three and will built on top of the existing Palm Monorail terminal – which will remain open throughout the site’s construction.
Aside from luxury apartments, The Palm Gateway will also have an extensive retail and leisure complex that will include a number of waterfront dining and shopping options as well as a pool, barbeque area and a jogging track. The complex will have links to other parts of the island and to the rest of Dubai.
The project, that has been handed over to Shapoorji Pallonji Mideast LLC, will begin its construction phase in the second quarter of 2017 and will take roughly two and a half years to complete.
Speaking on the project Nakheel Chairman Ali Rashid Lootah said: “The Palm Gateway contract is among AED12 billion worth of construction contracts to be awarded by Nakheel this year. We look forward to delivering another iconic, landmark project at the entrance to Palm Jumeirah through this first-time collaboration with Shapoorji Pallonji.”

Earlier this year, Nakheel signed a joint venture with Thai hotel group Centara Hotels and Resorts to build Deira Islands.
The AED500 million project will span across an area of 295,900 sq ft and will boast a waterpark and hotel. There will also be a number of dining facilities, a business centre, kid’s club and fitness centre. The resort is expected to have a soft opening in 2019 with a grand opening set to take place just one year later.
