You can attend an auction for charity in Dubai next week
You can give back to those in need by buying art in Dubai next week.
The Ajala Project – a Dubai-based social enterprise that uses art as a means of raising awareness and supporting social causes – has just announced that it will be auctioning off 25 pieces of art to support the Emirates Red Crescent’s mission of raising AED500 million to help those affected by droughts in Somalia.
The event will take place at The Workshop Gallery from June 20 to June 23 with all proceeds going to the Emirates Red Crescent’s "For Your Sake Somalia" campaign
Speaking on the event that sees the social art enterprise partner with the city's ongoing "Every Dirham Counts" campaign, the co-founder of the Ajala Project said: “This campaign has already received significant interest from members, with over 100 artists submitting pieces within a few days of announcing our partnership. We have shortlisted 25 unique pieces and hope we can raise donations to help those who are suffering in Somalia.”
“We are pleased that our campaign is growing and bringing people together to support the UAE’s efforts on-ground. The interest and support we have received so far is testament to the fact that the people in the UAE care and are always ready to contribute and make a difference,” the project leader of Every Dirham Counts, Mona Gulaid added.
The partnership is just one of many that have helped the UAE maintain its title of being one of the most charitable countries in the world.
According to a report released by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development this past April, the UAE spent over AED15.2 billion on development assistance in 2016.
With this year being the “Year of Giving” we can only imagine the monetary aid donated by the UAE will be even higher.
