Premiesku
The guys at the Plus-Minus Sessions have wasted no time getting their teeth sunk into the summer season. Having now decamped to a new home in the Bridgewater Tavern in JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, they understand that not every techno and house fan has grabbed their passport and headed to the Mediterranean for three months; they know full well there are plenty of parties needed for those staying in Dubai for the majority of the summer. To underline the point, they have drafted in Premiesku, the Romanian duo of Livio and Roby, together with George G, to kick-start the post-Ramadan calendar. As live electronic musicians, the trio blends the raw elements of classic deep house, Detroit techno and tech house to create something entirely new: a groove-heavy template onto which their skills can overlay a range of sounds – including elements from their musical heritage in the Balkans and Eastern Europe. The music they make live, moreover, comes from homemade consoles, each programmed to play a raft of electronic sounds, resulting in a more analogue, genuinely live experience. Premiesku formed in 2012 and later that same year, they released their debut album “Indirect”, which is a good starting point to understand their musical philosophy.
When: Friday, June 30
Where: Bridgewater DXB
Price: Food and drink packages from AED275. Tickets AED100 after 9pm.

Dubai Summer Surprises
The summer-long carnival of shopping kicks off on July 1 this year and continues for a whopping six weeks, meaning that the 20th edition of the festival will be one of the biggest ever – good news for you, better news for your wallet. As always, DSS takes in all the major malls in Dubai, with shops offering discounts of anywhere between 30-75 percent off their SS17 stock ahead of the new season’s lines. It is, then, the ideal time to restock the wardrobe, splash out on some electronics or save loads on all those household purchases you’ve been putting off since January. There will also be the usual array of family activations, shows and movie characters roaming around.
When: July 1-August 12
Where: Across the city
