VIDEO: Work has started on this riviera-inspired district in Dubai

Dubai will have its very own piece of France soon, as work is now underway on Azizi Riviera – an AED12 billion waterfront project in Dubai’s Meydan One development in Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City.

The French Riviera-inspired development will have 69 mid-rise residential buildings, offering 13,000 new units made up of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. There will also be two hotels and a retail district.

The names of the hotel operators haven’t been disclosed, but according to Hotelier Middle East, developers have revealed that one will be four-star and the other five-star.

As well as all the practical stuff, it sounds like it’s going to be a great place to hang out at weekends. You can expect plenty of leisure and entertainment options, paved pedestrian paths and water transport.

“We are pleased that the site preparation for this dazzling community has kicked off. With this iconic new neighborhood development, we are once again demonstrating our capability to develop unique projects that will surprise the world and contribute to this great city’s evolution,” Farhad Azizi, CEO of Azizi Developments, said in a statement.

The first two phases of the project, which will have direct access to Meydan One Mall and Meydan Racecourse, are expected to be completed in December 2018.

Studios and one-bedroom units are already listed on, with prices for a studio ranging from AED550,000 to AED620,000, and prices for a one-bedroom ranging from AED890,000 to AED1,2 million.

The description reads: “The new Azizi Riviera is all about community living, evoking the classic Mediterranean Riviera lifestyle with a modern, contemporary outlook. Long walks on paved paths, beautiful sunsets and just a short distance from water transport, yachting facilities and a proposed marina.”

The development is located 5 minutes from Meydan One Mall, and 15 minutes from Dubai International Airport.
