The Dubai Canal is all set to welcome a brand new landmark - an apartment tower called J One. You might be sat there thinking, come on, what's so special about an apartment tower? BORING! Well... this isn't just any apartment tower.

Launched by RKM Durar Properties earlier this week, the unique development will consist of two “U” shaped towers called Tower A and B.

Tower A will comprise of 19 floors that will be home to a number of temperature controlled pools, a sky garden and 257 apartments that will range from studios to one and two bedroom flats.

At 18 storey’s high, Tower B will feature 90 two, three and four bedroom apartments, making it perfect for families. There will also be six villas for all those who prefer (and can afford) a standalone home. The project will also have nine retail units.

The price of studios start from AED825,000 while the price of a two-bedroom unit starts at AED2.2 million.

The fancy "U" shaped building isn’t the only sure-to-be-iconic housing space that we can look forward to seeing on the Dubai Canal. Admares’ Marasi Business Bay project’s first floating homes are set to grace our shores pretty soon.

Once complete, the AED1 billion project will feature a number of floating restaurants, boutique shops and entertainment facilities.

Speaking on the development, the CEO of Admares, Mikael Hedberg said: “Our objective is to create unique, innovative and environmentally friendly real estate products, utilising groundbreaking, multidisciplinary off-site construction technology.”

The luxury homes are currently being in Finland (Admares is a Finnish company) and will be transported to the UAE once they are complete. When they arrive in Dubai, they will be fixed to the canal base and appear like they are floating.
