Forecast says UAE has a weekend of rain ahead

It looks like the nation’s rainy season will officially start this weekend. According to the National Center of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), this weekend will bring increased cloud cover associated with rainfall.

Today’s forecast states: “Partly cloudy in general and hazy at times, some convective clouds may form over the sea , especially westward. Moderate wind in general, becoming fresh over the Sea. Rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and [the] Oman Sea”.

As for Friday and Saturday, it doesn’t look like the sky will be much brighter with a prediction of “unstable weather in general” and increased cloud cover “associated with rainfall of different intensity over scattered areas”.

The report added that were would be moderate “moderate to fresh winds over the sea with convective clouds” and that the sea “will be rough in general in the Arabian Gulf and Oman sea.”

Visibility may also be poor in exposed areas, as the wind will kick up dust and sand.

Longer range forecasts are predicting that the rain will continue until Sunday with temperatures in Dubai ranging from 17 to 23 degrees Celsius.

With that in mind, it might be a good idea to make some indoor plans this weekend.
