10 great things to do in Dubai this week

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
There’s plenty of seasonal fun to be had in this pantomime-style production of the classic fairytale at DUCTAC – and they certainly have pedigree in putting them on. In 2015, it was Cinderella and in 2016 Peter Pan, and many in the cast and crew are from the UK, where the genre has a peculiar place in the seasonal calendar. Not that the story needs much in the way of introduction, but Snow White and her diminutive companions must defy the Wicked Queen and meet her handsome Prince Charming. It’s the usual blend of bag gags, over-the-top humour, music and dancing and audience interaction.

UK-based promoters Phoenix are putting this right with a card that sees Tunisian Mounir Lazzez (5-0) take on Belgian Christophe Van Dijck (8-3). Overall, the night contains 32 fighters with 10 world and regional champions.

NINIVE
This brand new restaurant and general terrace hangout at Jumeirah Emirates Towers takes its inspiration from pan-regional culture and cuisine – from North African to the Gulf. Designed to be a contemporary meeting point, it sits somewhere between a nomad’s tent and a caravenserail, with dishes including sautéed lamb marinated in spices and served in a casserole, chicken stuffed with saffron rice, raisins and pine nuts, and their version of an Iraqi tashreeb, which is braised lamb in breadcrumbs. Pull up a cushion.
