McGettigan’s Comedyfest
At the time of writing, post-holiday blues have well and truly set in for Team ShortList and many of our readers. That’s why McGettigan’s annual Comedyfest, which is back for its eighth year, is a much-welcome January distraction. Four of Ireland’s top stand-ups will take to The Baggot stage (that includes the MC, Fair City star and twice Irish Standup of the Year, Eric Lalor, we’ll have you know). Meanwhile, we’ll all be feasting on free barbecue burgers and beverages, soaking in Fred Cooke’s skits, Karl Spain’s bants and Barry Murphy’s alter ego (see sidebar, right, for more details of the comedians). Tickets are AED50 for entry (before 10pm) and come with one free burger and a selected bevvie.

Dubai Shopping Festival
The Dubai Shopping Festival is on now and will run until January 28. We sugguest heading down to your nearest mall because brands like Forever 21, New Look, H&M and more are offering up to 90 percent off. And to make an already sweet deal even sweeter, the organisers behind the shopping bonanza are giving you the chance to experience some of the city’s most exciting attractions at a discounted price. Passes go for AED399 and include access to destinations like Dubai Dolphinarium, Etihad Museum and IMG Worlds of Adventure. You can choose between packages of three, five or unlimited – for an added cost, of course.

Steak’ing around the world
Chef Iqbal has an all-new menu for 2018 that comes with the juiciest cuts of meat from around the world. Succulent beef sourced from the likes of Japan, Ireland and New Zealand will make up the offerings that will be cooked to your idea of perfection. The menu runs from Saturday to Tuesday, 5pm until 11.30pm.

Thursday Evening Brunch
Outdoor brunches aren’t restricted to daytime affairs, as this elegant gathering atop the Four Seasons confirms. Wash x Hip Hop Chic
American R&B singer Wash is performing on Cirque Le Soir’s Hip Hop Chic Monday. The 24-year-old, whose debut single Can’t Trust Thots features rapper French Montana, is bringing his smooth vocals and upbeat playlist, all the way from Texas to one of Dubai’s freakiest nightspots. Local DJs Keza and Flipp’Side will be warming up the crowds.

Nuno dos Santos and Love Over Entropy
Who said January had to be boring? Warm up with Balearic beats at Blue Marlin, take a dip and recharge before SoHaSo Showcase takes over the dance floor. Love Over Entropy then brings soulful, atmospheric tunes, before Nuno dos Santos presents an eclectic set, featuring everything from deep house to serene techno.

American rapper A$AP Ferg is heading from New York City’s Harlem neighbourhood to Dubai’s design district to entertain partygoers for one night only at Base. The award-winning 29-year-old hip hop artist and successful fashion designer has a new album out, Still Striving, which he’ll perform tracks from.
