The UAE is about to welcome a whole host of new attractions over the next twelve months. Here are our favourites…

1. Ain Dubai, Bluewaters Island
Located in the soon to be complete Bluewaters Island, Ain Dubai or “Dubai Eye” as it was once known, will be largest Ferris wheel in the world. At 210m high it will eclipse New York’s 198m attraction, and will have the capacity to carry more than 1,400 passengers at a time within its 48 capsules. The flight of the wheel will be an impressive 48 minutes long and will give you an ever-changing view of the city. Aside from the observation wheel, the project will feature a number of dining and retail facilities as well as a 4D cinema that will enlighten guests  about city’s rich history and culture.
Fun Fact: Ain Dubai will be the centrepiece of Bluewaters Island which will also be home to a number of residential and commercial projects such as penthouses, shopping malls and beach clubs.

2. Mohammed bin Rashid Library
Once complete, the project that is located in the Al Jaddaf area of the Dubai Creek, will feature 4.5 million books. Aside from housing a plethora of information, the library will feature a selection of artefacts from the Al Maktoum family’s personal collection as well as a centre for the restoration and conservation of books. It will also host a number of events such as culture and education festivals through its numerous exhibition and lecture halls.
Fun fact: The building has been designed in the shape of a “rehl” – the traditional lectern often used to carry the Holy Quran.

3. Ras Al Khaimah Zip-line
The zip-line is so long it will be length of 28 football pitches and will be located on top of the enormous Jebal Jais mountain in Ras Al Khaimah. At 1,934 metres high, it’s the tallest mountain in the UAE and the perfect place for thrill-seekers. The attraction will feature two lines, allowing friends and family to experience the speedy drop together. While the exact length of the zip-line is being kept a secret until it officially opens, we do know that it is already expected to break the Guinness World Record for the longest of its kind, and will also be the world’s highest zip-line, too.
Fun fact: It will be able to accommodate 250 people a day, which is about 100,000 people per year.

4. Deira Islands Night Souk
When it opens in the second half of the year, the Deira Islands Night Souk will be largest night market in the world. It will feature a staggering 5,300 shops and will boast over 100 quayside restaurants and cafes. The highly anticipated venue forms part of Deira Island, which is a 15.3sq kilometre waterfront city that’ll consist of four islands. Expect the leisure hub to help transform “old Dubai” into a world-class visitor destination.
Fun Fact: The total investment of Deira Island is AED6.1 billion.

5. Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi
The latest indoor theme park to arrive in Abu Dhabi comes from Warner Bros. It’ll be split into six different zones such as Bedrock (The Flintstones), Metropolis (Superman) and Gotham (Batman) – each with fantastic rides and rollercoasters.
Fun fact: It will feature the very first Warner Bros. branded hotel in the Middle East.

6. Aladdin City
We’re assured this project is still on track (*crosses all appendages for good luck*) for its 2018 launch, and honestly, we can’t wait to see it finished. The three towers that will make up the structure will be 33, 24 and 25 storeys high and will take the shape of interlinked Aladdin’s lamps, and although we’re not sure if there will be genies inside, we do know there will be hotels, restaurants and other retail spaces to indulge in. It’s all part of the UAE’s plan to be the hottest tourist destination on the planet.
Fun Fact: Each footbridge that links the buildings will be shaped like a lizard or dragon.

7. Cityland Mall
It’s not just another mall. Well, it is, another mall, but it has unique twist that we’re interested in. Right in the centre of what will be Dubai’s largest single floor retail space is 200,000sq ft of open air gardens to wander around. We can imagine taking a break from stomping around the shops to catch our breath in the fresh air. But only if the weather is cool enough, mind.
Fun Fact: There will be over 75 different dining options, a hypermarket, 350 stores and a 10-12 screen cinema.

8. Dubai Arena
Taking inspiration from the L.A. Staples Center and London’s O2 Arena, Dubai is plotting a destination for live entertainment that will host the likes of the NBA, the noble art of fisticuffs (read: boxing or MMA) and musical concerts and shows. It’s just what the emirate has been missing.
Fun Fact: Dubai Arena will be able to host weddings on a grand scale. Start saving now.
