Tunneling work on Dubai's Route 2020 expected to finish this year
Dubai's Road and Transport Authority has announced that tunneling work on the Expo's AED10.6 billion route is now 50 percent complete.
The news means that the route that will link hundreds and thousands of tourists to the already world-renowned site should be complete by the end of this year.

Aside from provide access to the site that will house projects like Al Wasl Plaza and District 2020, the new metro link will provide direct access to areas like the Discovery Gardens, Jumeirah Gold Estates and Dubai Investment Parks.
It will also see 50 new trains added to the Dubai Metro fleet. 15 of which will be used exclusively for the Expo while the remaining 35 will go to improving the overall traffic on the Dubai Metro.
Aside from ease traffic flow and connect new areas of the city, Route 2020 will also feature seven stations. Five of which will be elevated while two will be underground.
Overall, Route 2020 will extend the Dubai Metro’s Re Line by 15km from the Nakheel Harbour and Tower Station.
