Dubai to get Walk of Fame
Dubai is set to get its very own Walk of Fame, called "Dubai Stars", with 10,000 celebrities and influencers to be honoured.
The project aims to pay tribute to those personalities who have positively influenced the world through their work across various industries, including film, music, sports, art and literature.
Visitors will be able to walk along the salute to the well-known, which will be located on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai.
Dubai’s Walk of Fame is expected to be four times the size of its Hollywood equivalent and it is hoped that, like the American version, it will attract in excess of 10 million visitors per year.
A public vote will be held to determine the inaugural 400 stars who will be honoured on the Dubai Stars walk, with the names set to be unveiled at a special event in October attended by those chosen celebrities and influencers.
Longer term, there will eventually be 10,000 recognisable figures acknowledged on what is likely to become an iconic Dubai spot.
The Walk of Fame will be designed by Emaar, developer of iconic Dubai buildings such as as Burj Khalifa, The Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera and The Dubai Fountain. Managing director, Ahmad Al Matrooshi, spoke about the significance of their latest structure.
“Emaar takes pride in ensuring the best lifestyle experience for both residents and visitors to Dubai," he said.
“With Dubai Stars we are further highlighting our commitment to making Dubai the best city in the world, and to promoting arts, culture and sports by saluting the stars, whose contributions continue to inspire the world.”
