Voting now open for Dubai’s walk of fame
Members of the public can now officially register your vote for who should be the first to get a spot on the Dubai Stars “walk of fame”.
Whether it’s a sporting figure, musician, actor or somebody from a different field entirely, you can now nominate the person you believe deserves a place on what is hoped will become one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions.
Nominations are open for the first 400 names and you can vote by completing an online form at thedubaistars.com.
You can nominate up to three people per form and the voting process closes at midnight on Friday May 31.
The first person to be honoured with a star was Elie Saab, a Lebanese fashion designer who has worked with the likes of Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Helen Mirren.
On being presented with his star, Saab was described as “the pride of the Arab world and a fascinating international success story.”
The first 400 names will be unveiled at a glittering ceremony in October, with those who have been given a star expected to be in attendance.
Dubai Stars will pay tribute to eminent personalities who have positively influenced the world through their work in various fields including music, film, art, architecture, sports, and literature as well as social influencers.
Once completed, Dubai’s own walk of fame will have more than 10,000 stars, which is roughly four times the number of stars boasted by the original Hollywood version.
If you want to see your favourite celebrity earn a star, now is the time to get voting.
