New Manchester City kits revealed
Abu Dhabi-owned Manchester City has revealed its home and away kits for the forthcoming season.
Having won all three domestic trophies last season, Pep Guardiola’s side will begin the 2019/20 campaign as favourites to lift a third consecutive Premier League title, and they will do it wearing uniquely designed kits that also feature the club’s 125th anniversary crest.
The likes of Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva will wear a home kit that draws inspiration from Manchester’s industrial heritage, celebrating the true grit, fight, and character that emerged from the cotton mills of the city.
The iconic Man City blue is highlighted with purple, a colour previously used in the club’s away kits.
The new away kit, meanwhile, celebrates the city’s “Madchester” years, a period of extraordinary cultural activity in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The kit is directly inspired by former nightclub, The Hacienda. Using black as a colour base, the strip features yellow stripes on the left shoulder, a reference to the venue’s iconic graphic identity.
After playing a string of friendlies, Man City will face Liverpool at Wembley in the season’s annual curtain-raiser, the Community Shield, before opening the new Premier League campaign with a trip to West Ham United on Saturday August 10.
