Wheels of the week: Pininfarini Battista
Did they just jumble up founder Battista “Pinin” Farina’s name?
...Oh yeah. We suppose, but not without good reason. This beast will be the iconic designer’s first supercar under the banner of the company’s new car-building division. Of course Automobili Pininfarina are going to honour the man who started it all.
It’s a mouthful, but we dig it. Especially since it looks like it came straight out of Hot Wheels
That’s what the future of motors looks like, seeing as it won’t be out until 2020. You can be sure every bit of detail is painstakingly looked over, as well, as only 150 of these beauties will be made.
Talk about exclusive. But it’s electric, can it really be classed as a hypercar?
You kidding? This powerplant will be the most powerful road-legal car ever designed and built in Italy thanks to its 1,900 horsepower and 1,696 pound-feet of torque.
Erm, can you translate that into some speed numbers, please?
Basically, that kind of power can thrust the Battista to 100kph in less than two seconds, and has a top speed of 350kph. Remember, all that with zero-emissions.
How can that be road legal?
Don’t spoil the fun! This hypercar has literally been made for motorheads to start loving electric cars, and with those kind of specs, we’re sure they will.
To be fair, we’re already starting to fall for it. What’s the damage?
It will cost around $2 million (AED7.3 million).
Alright, we don’t love it that much then.
