Anti-bullying feature introduced to Instagram

A new feature of the photo-sharing app Instagram warns users before they attempt to post negative comments.

Adam Mosseri took over as head of the app earlier this year and has placed significant emphasis on the issue of bullying. Potentially, insulting and inappropriate comments will be flagged before users can upload them, aiming to make them reconsider their actions.

This feature comes alongside recent trials to hide the number of likes on pictures and plans to implement a ‘Restrict’ option that hides comments from specific users without them being aware.

Other changes to Instagram include the app recently being purchased and taken over by Facebook, led by Mosseri.

The new team are cracking down on bullying and offensive behaviour, making safety a priority as social media continues to grow and change in unpredictable ways. New features use current technology like artificial intelligence to monitor activity and provide a safer platform for its users.
