Dubai Airports introduces advanced system to monitor operations at DXB
A high-tech system has been launched by Dubai Airports to monitor activity at Dubai International Airport, DXB.
The cloud-based platform is able to visualize traffic flow as well as track operations in real-time. Named ‘realtimeDXB’, the service collates data from over 50 operational systems from both Dubai Airports and its partners.
The result is better collaboration and decision-making within management teams, as well as an increased understanding of current and potential issues. During this initial phase of activity, the platform is used to monitor activity such as aircraft and vehicle movements, meaning officials can keep up to date on flight data, departure times, and general performance analysis.
So, how can it help passengers themselves? On-the-ground benefits are shown mainly in customer experience, such as shorter wait times in queues and use of smart gates to speed up passport control. The next phase of the system will also focus on the flow of passengers and baggage within terminals. Clever stuff.
