Dubai Limousines to become eco-friendly by 2026
The Roads and Transport Authority has introduced a new venture aiming to make 90 percent of Dubai’s limousines eco-friendly over the next seven years.
This semi-total conversion of a limousine fleet is the first initiative of its kind across the world. Under the approval of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, it is planned that 65 percent of the limousines will be hybrid vehicles, and 25 percent electric.
The goal is to reduce fossil fuel consumption in Dubai and protect the environment amid recent and urgent global warnings of a climate crisis. Many car manufactures, in fact, are focusing on renewable sources like electric energy to power their cars. Taxis and limousines are now required to reduce their carbon emissions by two percent in accordance with new regulations from the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and the Green Economy drive.
Eco-friendly vehicles also began being used by the Dubai police force earlier this year. Dubai is setting the example of green energy with its vehicles, and we’re excited to see how this new initiative progresses.
