UAE braced for 3 days of rain

Those of you who have been out after dark will know that it’s been pretty cold for the past week – in some cases, such as at REdFest DXB, we’ve needed a jacket. According to the latest weather report by the UAE’s National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) rain is on its way too.

From Tuesday February 16 we will see a scattering of clouds, but instead of clearing later in the day, it’s likely to bring rain across parts of the UAE. A slight increase in temperature means that it is also expected to be humid at night and early morning.

The NCMS report says: “Partly cloudy to cloudy with scattered rain at times over some areas. A slight increase in temperature, a light to Moderate winds. Freshening at times over the sea by afternoon Sea will be slight to moderate becoming rough at times in the Arabian Gulf, and Oman Sea. The relative humidity will increase during night and early morning times over most of the areas, with a probability of fog/mist formation over scattered areas.”

Wednesday’s report is almost identical, with rain expected in the northern and eastern areas. BBC Weather predicts daytime rain on Wednesday February 17 with dark clouds in the afternoon, and even lightning (though this hasn’t been confirmed by NCMS). Temperatures are expected to reach highs of 24C and lows of 18C.

As for Thursday, it looks like more rain and clouds.

According to reports this “cold” weather is likely to last until the end of February, with temperatures dipping below 20 degrees Celsius… Well, that’s cold by UAE standards anyway.
