It’s a creative week, with the return of Art Dubai and Design Days filling the city with exhibitions. We’ve also got Pete Herbert at Velocity, a new ladies night in Tecom, and Dara O’Briain is cracking some jokes for St Patrick’s Day.

Pete Herbert at Velocity
After learning his craft behind the till of London record shops (and going on to own Atlas Records), London DJ Pete Herbert carved a name for himself behind the decks. Expect a mixture of disco and house, with plenty of 90s influence. He’ll be supported by Dust’s Megadon Betamax and Cuts Above’s Johnny Thornhill. Tickets on the door AED100 with a free drink before 11pm.
When: Thursday 17 March, 9pm to 3am
Where: Velocity, JW Marriot Hotel, Business Bay, Dubai

Design Days Dubai
The design fair will feature 40 galleries, including some of the world’s most established as well as those emerging on the scene. Some of the exhibitions include Cities Art, Design and Lifestyle Store, which explores Eastern cultures, and Comptoir 102, who have teamed up with Amsterdam-based Frame and Paris –based Eyes on Talents, to look at award-winning lighting design.
When: March 14-18
Where: Downtown Dubai at The Venue on Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard

So Chic Pre-loved Designer Event
Cove Beach will host the latest pre-loved designer shopping event at their Tuesday evening ladies night. So Chic has pieces from brands such as Hermes, Balenciaga, Christian Louboutin, Givenchy, Maje, Sandro, Vanessa Bruno and Isabel Marant. The insider scoop is that there are even sold-out Chanel espadrilles up for grabs.
When: Tuesday March 15, 8am to 11pm
Where: Cove Beach, Jumeirah Beach Hotel

Art Dubai
Returning for its 10th edition, Art Dubai is back for four days of workshops, exhibitions, commissioned projects and performances. Now considered an important meeting place for the globe’s art lovers, curators and artists, the highlight of the extensive programme is the Global Art Forum, which has some great speakers this year.
When: March 16-19
Where: Madinat Jumeirah, www.artdubai.ae

Lock Stock & Barrel
It’s the new venue that everyone’s talking about, and the recently launched ladies night is bound to be popular. Welcoming those popping in straight from the office or people glammed up for a big night out, it’s a mixed crowd. Ladies get three free drinks between 6pm and 1am.
When: Tuesdays
Where: Lock Stock & Barrel, Tecom, +971 4 914 9195

Dara O’Briain
Irish funnyman Dara O’Briain is taking his stand-up show Crowd Tickler to the Dubai World Trade Centre this week. Known as one of the best comics for audience interaction, it’s always well worth securing tickets at the front… Or at the back, if you’re not up for being the butt of his jokes.
