7 things to do in Dubai this week

Just as we’re recovering from Dubai World Cup, the city throws another week of action at us. We’ve got some massive artists in the UAE, with Wiz Khalifa, Avicii, Tyga and Flo Rida jetting in for concerts. We hope you’ve got some energy left.

Picasso and Miró
There’s still time to see this landmark exhibition at the Burj Khalifa. Two of the most important artists of the 20th century, both Spanish, are being shown side by side, revealing the journeys and developments that enabled them to define cubism and surrealism.
When: Until May 17
Where: The Annex, Burj Khalifa, www.picassomiro.com

Cirque Le Noir
Expect your stomach to flip at the death-defying stunts at Cirque Le Noir. Acrobats and contortionists push their bodies to extremes in the name of entertainment, along with a spectacular laser show. The highlight is the terrifyingly named “Wheel of Death”, which always makes the audience scream.
When: March 23 – April 2
Where: Dubai World Trade Centre

Coffee with a difference
This fantastic concept is a coffee shop and art studio all in one. Mawanaheb from Beautiful People is manned by adults with a special need, with the goal to bridge the gap between these adults and society, while giving them retail and service experience. The coffee shop serves RAW coffee and snacks, and you can also purchase the likes of paintings, cushions and phone covers – if you’re lucky you might even see an artist making them.
When: 9am to 3pm, Sunday to Thursday
Where: Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood,

Wiz Khalifa
He’s probably the most talked-about rapper in the world right now. In part, that’s because his sixth studio album, Khalifa, was released a little over a month ago, reaching number six on the US Billboard chart. Then there’s the controversy surrounding the failure of his Furious 7 song “See You Again” to receive a nomination for last month’s Academy Awards. Catch him at Dubai International Stadium this weekend.
When: Thursday March 31
Where: Dubai International Stadium, Sports City

Avicii
The Swedish chart-dominator is back in Dubai for a gig he promises will be bigger and better than ever. Expect all his most famous tracks, including “Wake Me Up”, “Hey Brother” and “You Make Me”. It may be on April Fool’s Day, but we promise he is actually coming…
When: Friday April 1
Where: Dubai World Trade Centre

Autism Rocks
There’s so much that we like about this event. It’s all in the name of charity, as people come together for Autism Rocks. Tyga and Flo Rida are headlining the concert and with tickets at just AED50, it’s bound to be busy.
When: Friday April 1, from 12pm
Where: Autism Rocks Arena at Dubai Outlet Mall,

Cinema – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (PG3)
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has become the most eagerly anticipated film of 2016 so far. The plot centres on the growing public scrutiny of Superman’s powers: Is Clark Kent’s alter-ego a force to be trusted? Well, no, according to Affleck’s ageing, angrier-than-ever Bruce Wayne, who has developed a hostile aversion to Krypton’s son. In his newly bulked-up batsuit, he wages war against him, all under the watch of Jeremy Irons’ Alfred.
Added to the mix is Lex Luther, who was absent from Man of Steel, played by a long-haired but recognisably cocky Jesse Eisenberg, and an odd cameo from Wonder Woman – though whose side these two fall on, is up to you to find out.
In cinemas from March 24
