World’s only 7-star airport terminal now open in Dubai
We’ve already got the world’s only “7-star hotel”, so it would make sense that the first 7-star airport terminal on the globe would open in Dubai. As part of the emirate’s Expo 2020 plan, the newly built VIP Terminal at Dubai South’s Aviation District just saw its first flight depart.
According to local reports, the inaugural flight was a private jet carrying 13 passengers. The jet was handled by JetEx, and in-keeping with the luxurious new facility, it headed for The Maldives.
The terminal will be the gateway for Expo 2020, which is expected to attract 25 million visitors, with VIPs, business and government travellers amongst them. The 5,600 metre squared terminal, which is located midway between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, will cater to these passengers, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
As you would expect from 7-star, the terminal is fitted with the most luxurious interiors, with top-of-the-range facilities and lounges, as well as speciality services for VIP guests.
“The flight is an important milestone for Dubai South and for Dubai’s aviation industry as a whole. It brings into operation a truly beautiful facility that sets new benchmarks in terms of luxurious ambiance and excellent service,” said Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation (DACC).
“The stage is now set for robust growth in Dubai’s luxury travel sector. I congratulate our partner JetEx and the entire team on the ground for so finely handling the VIP Terminal’s first flight.”
Dubai won Expo 2020 back in 2013, receiving 116 votes from a possible 165. Since then, the city has been preparing to welcoming up to 25 million visitors from 180 nations. This will be the first World Expo 2020 held in the MENA & SA (Middle East and North Africa & South Asia) region.
