VIDEO: New Dubai tower taller than the Burj Khalifa
Just last week Emaar revealed plans for an iconic structure called The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour. The announcement came with exciting news that it will be ‘a notch taller than the Burj Khalifa’ – which, of course, is currently the tallest building in the world.
Developers have released a new video, and The Tower looks even more incredible than we could have ever imagined. Plans for the estimated $1 billion structure show that the supporting tension cables will be illuminated, in order to be made into a feature, allowing the grand building to be seen for miles around.
The awesome viewing deck will give a 360-degree view of the city, with rotating balconies so that visitors can enjoy the full view. The VIP viewing areas are set to be even more spectacular, recreating the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
A number of leading engineering companies went head-to-head with proposals, and the design by Santiago Calatrava Valls was eventually selected. Previous projects include Chicago Spire Tower, Calgary Peace Bridge and the Olympic Sports Complex in Athens.
The design of the tower takes inspiration from Islamic culture, the UAE’s heritage and modern architecture, in-keeping with Dubai’s reputation across the world.
