We’ve lost count of the number of theme parks being built in the UAE. There’s Legoland, Motiongate, Bollywood Dubai and IMG Worlds of Adventure, to name a few. And soon to join the party will be Warner Bros, who are set to open a theme park on Yas Island in 2018.

Abu Dhabi developer Miral Asset Management said that the new 19-ride park with a themed hotel will cost around $1 billion to build. Construction started last summer, and the site is located on Yas Island, very close to Ferrari World.

Some of Warner Bros biggest films are rumoured to feature at the park, with the likes of Batman v Superman, Looney Tunes and Friends featuring in some of the announcement material.

Mohammad Abdullah Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral, said: "Around 30 per cent of the project has been completed. All agreements have been signed and rides have been ordered."

The new park is expected to bring around 1,000 new jobs to the capital and give a huge boost to tourism. Visitor numbers at Yas Island are currently at 25 million, but it’s expected that Warner Bros park could take them up to an impressive 30 million in the opening year.

The park will be owned by Warner Bros and Miral, the government-owned company who also own Yas Waterworld and operate Ferrari World.
